One of the many species of Sylvia warbler found around the Mediterranean coast is the distinctive Sardinian Warbler. This male shows the unique black hood with red eye and eye-ring. Females must be identified with caution, as at least four other Sylvia warblers occur in Morocco during the winter. Most members of this genus are either migratory or prone to erratic seasonal movements - Sardinian Warbler falls in the latter category, as shown by a number of records from Great Britain in the 1990s
