One of the more charming members
of the crow family, the
Alpine Chough (pronounced "chuff")
is widespread in the mountains of southern Eurasia. It is a proficient
scavenger, and has adapted well to human activities, especially ski resorts.
This species has been recorded following climbers to 27,000 feet in Nepal - the
highest "land" altitude for any bird. |
