The hamada desert plains of southern inland Morocco are home to the dashing Lanner Falcon, and in places it seems to be quite common. The plumage varies somewhat - these two birds are towards the paler end of the range. In flight (inset) the diagnostic diagonal dark bar across the inner underwing is quite striking, allowing identification from Peregrine and Barbary Falcon at long distances.
