The drier regions of Africa are centers of Lark diversity, and North Africa has many interesting forms. The Temminck's Horned Lark is clearly a close relative of the Horned (or Shore) Lark, but unlike that widespread species, it is limited to the driest stone deserts of North Africa and western Arabia.
